Not that they can't be enjoyed by forty- or fifty-somethings coming to them the first time but by then tastes and outlook have been mostly decided. <br> As decidedly unique their own lives were, it seems that in their most famous works, they were equally determined to sniff out the phonies. And when you're 19 and you don't know who you are yet, these are bread crumbs to a thought process that will serve an individual well in life-- 1 part skepticism 1 part humanity 1 part truth, no ice, stirred.
