Hern,

How are homeless people in Tokyo related to the Occupy Wall Street Movement? The point is everything is connected. There are tens of thousands of homeless on the streets throughout Japan, where winter can be extremely cruel, and they are being pushed out of whatever public space they have been occupying for years now by the indifferent bureaucracy that-at least in part-created them, when their own financial bubble collapsed at the beginning of the 90s. As the economic disenfranchisement of the lower classes reaches up into the middle class for its next bite, we shall see what happens.

I understand your rage and depression and ranting about throwing away perfectly good food. It will be a small thing like this that will enrage the populace into action. Pepper spraying kids at U.C. Davis. The straw that broke the camel's back, as it were. From the mainstream establishment standpoint that is their only choice. They are automatons who have very little faculties for critical thinking and an even smaller grasp of history. The book that they work from has been so overly redacted as to contain not a shred of good intelligence on how to deal with mostly peaceful civil disobedience. Look what happened with Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, the Dalai Lama. Bullies react in violence when they are confused on how to act. That is the point, they react to stimulus, not acting according to the how we should be moving forward together.

As Thoreau said, "A minority is powerless while it conforms to the majority; it is not even a minority then; but it is irresistible when it clogs by its whole weight."

Yes, act human for a change.
Unrelated or not so much, today I learned about some of what happened in Lyon, France where militarized police evicted the local "Occupy Wherever" movement under whatever pretence. Yes, there were some drug addicts amongst the occupants, yes it was not pretty, but no it was not violent, as it was not violent in the other places where people are kick out by the local police of their Wherever. However there I learned that they threw away food, food that had been donated by some charity organization. They threw away food when there are still people with not enough to eat in the streets of the same city, or worse at home because it is shameful to say they you do not have enough money to eat. Food. Thrown away. And I am sure many people in France are giving shit to the US because of what happened at the university with the cop dozing the students. And I am sure many people in France and in the US are looking at Syria and Yemen and say these countries are really fucked up.There are differences in magnitude for sure...Is it a big difference?
I am depressed. Thanks Manny to bring this picture and these issues where people can see them.
I am sorry if this is not articulated and sound as a rant, I am really fucking depressed.
